A broad key commercial role supporting Scalepoint in its journey to be Europe´s leading insurance tech company with reporting line to Vice President, Products.
Scalepoint is a well-established company having
built innovative software solutions since 2000 that make life easier for
insurance companies and the customers they serve. Our core product is a highly
advanced cloud-based software solution, that digitalizes and automates all
aspects of the process that is associated with reporting and procuring a claim
and in doing so significantly improves the insurance customer experience. We
currently employ 190 people and are growing year by year. Most of our employees
work out of our corporate headquarter in Copenhagen, but we also have employees
located in Switzerland and Poland. For the time being, our customers include 26
primarily large insurance companies, most of them from the Nordics, but we also
have large customers on key markets in Europe and are working hard to add more.
In 2019 Scalepoint reported a revenue of
approximately 543 mDKK, EBITDA 43 mDKK and EBIT 11 mDKK and processed 1 million claims with claims

To
support the company`s expansion and ambitious growth plans, Scalepoint is now looking
for a Commercial Manager to work with commercializing its products. The role
includes delivering the right product to the right market, with the right value
proposition, price and packaging. The position is placed in the Product
Management function responsible for product development of Scalepoint´s
products including the commercial responsibility hereunder pricing, market fit,
product- and service offerings, profitability, roadmaps, etc.
The
Product Management function
consists of Product Owners driving product
development, PMO and project management delivering resource planning, reporting
and project management, Business Intelligence delivering analysis and Marketing.
The
Commercial Manager position
includes a variety of commercial tasks
related to
the product line including
commercial product structures, pricing, Professional Service offerings, strategy consulting work and preparation of commercial material for analysis,
surveys, and development of
business cases.
Responsibilities
The
Commercial Manager position doesn´t come with people management responsibility
but is heavy on business impact. In this role you will be an important wingman
to the VP of Products with whom you will collaborate closely. Success criteria
for the position is: implementation of
elements in the commercial strategy, meeting profitability targets for the product
line and Professional Service offerings.
The
position has top management exposure since successful products and commercial
management is pivotal to make Scalepoint Europe´s leading insuretech company. Main
stakeholders to the position are: Sales, Marketing, Customer Management, top
management and to some extent also customers. Reporting line is to the VP of
Products, who is reporting to the CEO.
Primary
responsibilities and tasks in the position
:
- Pricing of Scalepoint products including value-based pricing models, analysis of cost structures and -drivers and manage yearly price cycle to ensure optimal pricing.
- Make Product Investment prioritizations and proposals to the Board and top management regarding product development activities and spend of product development budget.
- Participate in developing business plans.
- Develop commercial materials as product descriptions, value propositions, pitches, brochures, packaging, and Power Point presentations.
- Commercial product offerings (including pricing and terms) of service agreements / Professional Services, e.g.: add on services to SaaS subscription to be used by customers for development of change requests to the solutions, consultancy tasks, etc.
- Budgeting and business cases on product development activities.
- Quoting of customer projects including preparing project contracts / agreements in close collaboration with PMO department.
- Strategy consulting work driving strategic initiatives, including reporting and follow up.
- Market- and competitor analysis including research of customer needs and commercial potentials.
- Satisfaction surveys and analyses among users of Scalepoint´s products and solutions.
Location of the position is at Scalepoint’s
Headquarter at Aldersrogade 8, 2100 København Ø. Most of Scalepoint’s customers
are currently Danish / Scandinavian based and therefore only limited travelling
is expected.
Candidate profile
As the right
candidate for the position as Commercial Manager you ideally have:
- A relevant master’s degree in Business, Finance, or – with the right experience and commercial mindset – maybe a degree in Engineering or IT.
- At least 3-8 years of relevant experience – gladly more – from positions encompassing for instance commercial management, business development, business analysis, product management or similar, or alternatively experience as management consultant within some of these areas.
- Experience with commercialization of products and product marketing – preferably within SaaS, Software or Finance / Insurance – is considered a plus.
- A solid commercial management toolbox within e.g., product management, pricing, positioning, propositions, commercial excellence, sales support, segmentation etc.
- Superuser of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and PowerPoint.
- Fluent in written and spoken Danish and English.
