- Heavy impact on R&D and new product development with reporting line to Senior Vice President
To further strengthen global R&D finance
capabilities our client is currently recruiting a senior and business savvy
profile as Global R&D Project Controller. The position is placed in Global
Operations´ R&D organization with more than 250 engineers committed to
product development, which is supported by approximately 3% of total turnover.
41 new products and variants were launched in 2013.
The position
In the newly established position as Global R&D Project Controller you will
be responsible for creating transparency for R&D in a global set up and
enhance financial credibility to project business controlling and R&D
financial controlling to ensure decisions are made on a factual financial
foundation that is credible and valid. Subsequently, you will be responsible
for further enhancing performance within R&D on a global level to be a cost
conscious-, business and commercial oriented organization.
You will be part of the extended management team in Global R&D and you will
have 5-6 colleagues in the R&D Finance Department. The position will involve many interfaces to senior
management – among these SVP for R&D and SVP for Finance in
Global Operations, R&D Directors, Director for Program Management,
Financial Managers on production sites and Finance Department in Denmark. Your
solid reporting line will be to Senior Vice President for Global R&D and in
dotted line to Senior Vice President & CFO for Global Operations Finance.
Most important KPI´s and success factors will be to ensure timely reporting,
quality in reports, introduce NPD business case model in a global setting and
finally to influence and set a stronger financial and commercial agenda in the
R&D organization. Key areas of responsibility – and estimated split between
them – includes:
Monthly reporting / Project Controlling, Business/Financial reporting and
analysis 35%
•
Monthly financial
reporting for the Global R&D organization and New Product Development (NPD)
projects
•
Act as Financial
Business Partner for R&D Management team (SVP, VP´s and Directors)
•
Maintain processes
behind and oversee capitalization through quality in data and analyses
•
Report on project
economy for overall NPD portfolio and single projects
•
Perform, control and
consolidate R&D / NPD analysis with inputs from other Global Operation
reporting sites
•
Ad hoc financial
analysis, gap, deep dives, forecast and specific project participation
•
VA (Value Analysis) /
VE (value engineering) support and follow up
•
Management reporting
for Global Operations including specific analyses and quarterly reports
•
Develop new tools,
processes and report to support R&D / business decisions
Own,
maintain and develop R&D reporting platforms 20 %
•
NPD financial project
follow up platform (actual cost, estimates, forecasts, budget and cost burn
rates) and reporting
•
Cost reduction
initiatives through optimized product development, procurement and processes
•
Owner and super-user of
time registration system
•
Develop new reporting
platforms / analysis tools to support business decisions
Maintain
and develop project business case model globally, incl. follow up in
projects 25%
•
Owner of NPD business
case model and further develop and implement global use of it
•
Super user og project
business case model (educate, training, help people understand it)
•
Participate and support
to build project business cases in product development projects
• Act as ‘competence center’ on product costing set up and global cost structure model

Business development
initiatives – some of them as project lead and project participation in some

Cost control analysis
for 7 R&D departments

Present numbers to
non-financial managers and employees to create a foundation for decisions

Substantial ad hoc
support within project-, business- or financial controlling to R&D, SVP,
PMO and project managers
Location of the position will be at the site in Jutland, alternatively HQ in Copenhagen. The position will require approximately 50 days of travelling mainly
to the US, China, Italy and Hungary. If more days of travelling is
desired that is most likely possible.
Ideal candidate
The ideal candidate has a MSc. level degree in
business, finance or economics and most likely has 4-10 years of progressive
experience from Finance/controlling functions preferably from an R&D
intensive organization.
Specifically, relevant experience and skills for the
position will be:
• Preferably experience working with project controlling and knowledge of product costing, alternatively a very solid background within business or financial controlling
•
Solid
• Strong project management skills and experience in acting as financial business partner
• Fluency in oral and written English
• Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, skills on an advanced level
• Knowledge of SAP, SAP BW and Hyperion HFM will be a plus

be on an attractive level which besides a fixed salary includes 10% target
bonus and 8% company paid pension scheme.
